Frequently Asked Questions

Questions about booking a photographer in Jamaica

Before you book, you probably have a few questions. Here are the ones couples and families ask me most often about booking a photographer in Jamaica, answered plainly. If yours is not here, send me a message and I will answer it personally.

What types of sessions do you photograph?

I photograph couples, families, maternity, and portraits across Jamaica, and I also cover proposals and engagements. As a couples photographer in Jamaica I keep every session relaxed and unscripted. I follow the moment rather than stage it, so your photographs feel like you.

Where in Jamaica do you work?

I am based in Montego Bay and work island wide. I photograph regularly in Negril, Ocho Rios, and Port Antonio, along the north coast, and at private villas across the island. I have spent more than twenty years learning the light at venues all over Jamaica, so wherever you are staying, I most likely know it well.

Can you photograph at my resort or private villa?

Yes. I am a recommended photographer at Half Moon, Round Hill, and Tryall Club, where there is no vendor fee for my sessions. I also photograph often at Rockhouse, Rose Hall, and Pimento Hill House, and at many private villas. Most resorts ask outside photographers to buy a day pass at the front desk, and most need to see photographer identification in person, so the pass is bought on the day I arrive. The average all inclusive day pass is around US$150. Private villas and boutique properties usually need no pass at all. Tell me where you are staying and I will explain exactly how it works there.

What is your photography style?

My style is quiet and documentary. I stay out of the way and let things unfold. I work with natural light and the landscape, and I keep direction simple. The result is warm, honest, and unforced.

Feeling relaxed in front of the camera starts with knowing what to expect, and that is what these answers are for.

When is the best time of day for a session?

Early morning and the hour before sunset are the most flattering. The light is soft and golden, the heat is gentle, and the popular spots are quieter. Golden hour is my favourite time to photograph in Jamaica. Midday sessions are possible too, and I know which shaded spots hold up well when the sun is high.

How long does a session last?

Most sessions run between one and two hours. That gives us time to move through a couple of locations without feeling rushed. Longer sessions are available when you want to cover more ground or include more than one look.

How much does a session cost?

Sessions start at US$500 for the first hour, with each additional hour at US$300. Most clients invest between US$500 and US$800 in total, depending on how long they want and how many locations they would like to cover. There is no cap on the number of edited images you receive. You can see the full breakdown on my pricing page.

What do we receive, and when?

You receive a fully edited, curated selection of images, with no cap or culling limit on the number delivered. I give you every frame worth keeping rather than every single shot, so it is quality over volume. Every delivered image is professionally colour graded, enhanced, and retouched, and select frames are given a black and white version alongside the colour. Everything arrives in a private, password protected online gallery at full resolution, ready to download, print, and share. Galleries are delivered within two weeks, and rush delivery within 48 to 72 hours is available if you need your images before you leave the island.

What should we wear?

Wear what feels like you. Soft, natural fabrics photograph beautifully and move well in the island breeze. I suggest tones that sit gently against sand, sea, and greenery rather than bright competing colours. If you are a couple or a family, coordinate loosely rather than match exactly. I am happy to give specific guidance once I know your location.

How far in advance should we book?

The earlier the better, especially for golden hour in the busy winter season. Many couples and families book several weeks to a few months ahead. If your dates are close, still reach out, and I will tell you honestly what I have open.

How do we book and pay?

Booking starts with a message to me directly. Once we confirm your date, a 50 percent retainer secures it, paid by Wise or bank transfer, with PayPal available. The balance is settled in cash on the day of your session. Everything is simple and agreed before we photograph.

What happens if it rains?

Jamaican showers usually pass quickly. If the forecast turns, we stay flexible and move the time or the day where we can. I watch the sky closely and will always be honest with you about timing. A little soft cloud often gives beautiful, even light.

I photograph couples, engagement, proposal, families, and maternity sessions at Half Moon, Round Hill, Tryall Club, Rockhouse, Rose Hall, and Pimento Hill House, and at private villas and All Inclusive Hotels across Jamaica.
