Family photographer in Montego Bay
and across Jamaica.
Families visiting Jamaica come from all over the United States, Canada, the UK, and Europe, and most are looking for a family photographer in Jamaica who can work around their resort schedule, handle young children without any fuss, and deliver images that actually show what the trip felt like. That is exactly what these sessions are built for.
As a family photographer based in Montego Bay, I work across the north coast and travel island-wide for sessions in Negril, Ocho Rios, Port Antonio, and wherever your family is staying. I know the light and the layout of most of the major resort properties on the island, which means sessions are planned properly rather than figured out on the day.
Family photo sessions in Jamaica are not about posing everyone in a line and hoping the children cooperate. They are documentary. Children move, parents follow, and I stay back and capture what happens between the moments you are aware of. The images that matter most are always the ones nobody planned.
Everything is arranged remotely before you arrive. Share your dates, your accommodation, and how many people are in your group. I will take it from there.
"The best family photographs are the ones where the children have completely forgotten you are there."
Resorts and locations
Family photography at resorts
and beaches across Jamaica.
Most families booking a family photographer in Jamaica are staying at an all inclusive resort on the north coast. The most popular properties for family photography in Montego Bay include Half Moon Resort, Round Hill Hotel and Villas, Tryall Club, Secrets St. James, Iberostar Rose Hall, Riu Montego Bay, and Sandals Montego Bay. Half Moon, Round Hill, and Tryall Club do not charge an outside vendor fee, which makes them straightforward to arrange.
For families staying in Negril, sessions take place on Seven Mile Beach, at Sandals Negril, Couples Negril, Beaches Negril, and at the quieter coves south of the main strip. The light in Negril at late afternoon is extraordinary for family beach photography.
Private villa sessions are ideal for multigenerational families and larger groups who want space and privacy. I work at villa properties island-wide and can suggest specific locations based on where you are staying.

Timing
Best time for a family photoshoot
in Jamaica.
The best light for family photography in Jamaica is in the hour before sunset, typically between 4:30pm and 6pm depending on the time of year. The light is warm, soft, and directional, which flatters everyone in the frame regardless of age. Late afternoon sessions also tend to work well with children because the midday heat has passed.
For families with very young children or toddlers who are at their best early in the day, a morning session starting around 7am to 8am is a good option. The light is soft, the beach is quiet, and young children are usually at their most cooperative. I will recommend the right time once I know more about your family and where you are staying.
What to wear
What to wear for a family
photoshoot in Jamaica.
Light, natural tones photograph best in Jamaica's beach and resort settings. Whites, creams, soft blues, warm neutrals, and sandy tones work well and sit naturally against the landscape. Avoid very bright colours, busy patterns, or large logos. Co-ordinating rather than perfectly matching tends to look more natural and relaxed in the final images.
Loose, light fabrics suit the warmth and movement of outdoor sessions. For children, whatever they are comfortable in is more important than what looks perfect on paper. A child who is hot and uncomfortable in their outfit will not photograph as well as one who is at ease. There is a full guide to what to wear for a photoshoot in Jamaica in the journal available here.

Frequently asked questions
about family photography in Jamaica.
Do you photograph families at all inclusive resorts in Jamaica?
Yes. Sessions take place at most of the major all inclusive resorts including Sandals Montego Bay, Secrets St. James, Iberostar Rose Hall, Riu Montego Bay, Sandals Negril, Couples Negril, and Beaches Negril. Half Moon, Round Hill, and Tryall Club do not charge an outside vendor fee and are recommended for family photography in Montego Bay.
Is a beach photoshoot good for families with toddlers and young children?
Yes. Beach sessions work well with toddlers and young children because there is space to move and things to explore. The format is documentary rather than posed, so children can play naturally while I photograph what happens. Sessions are loose and unhurried, and if a child needs a break we simply pause and continue when they are ready.
How far in advance should I book a family photographer in Jamaica?
For peak periods including Christmas, New Year, spring break, and summer school holidays, two to three months in advance is recommended. For other times of year, four to six weeks is usually sufficient. If your dates are close, it is always worth reaching out as availability does change.
Can you photograph our family at Half Moon Resort in Montego Bay?
Yes. Half Moon Resort is one of the most popular locations for family photography in Montego Bay. The grounds, private beach, and estate setting offer excellent variety. Half Moon does not charge an outside vendor fee, which makes it straightforward to arrange.
How many photos will we receive from a family session?
There is no limit on delivered images. A one hour session typically produces 60 to 100 fully edited images. A two hour session with a larger family will deliver more. All images are provided in full resolution via a private online gallery with rights to print and share.
Do you photograph multigenerational families and large groups in Jamaica?
Yes. Multigenerational family sessions and larger family reunion groups are welcome. The format adapts to the size and pace of your group. Private villa locations often work best for larger families as they offer more space and privacy than a public beach.
What happens if it rains during our session?
Jamaica's weather on the north coast is generally predictable and rain showers are often short. If rain affects the session we reschedule to the next available slot at no extra charge. If rescheduling is not possible due to your travel dates, a full refund is provided.
Can you travel to our villa location in Jamaica?
Yes. Private villa sessions are available island-wide. Gardens, pool terraces, and ocean-view settings at villa properties work beautifully for family photography. Share your villa location and I will confirm availability and any travel fee that applies.
